The members of this family are the descendants of Hijman (Chajim) and Bele, who lived in the 18e century in Amsterdam. Their children used first the family name DANTSIGER, which later became the Dutch name VAN DANTZIG during the registration of family names in Leiden in 1811 (decree of Napoleon on the Registration of Surnames).
